After a tourism slump, Hawaii made big strides this summer.
Hospitality Advisors and Smith Travel Research recently reported hotels brought in $1.42 billion in revenue this summer, an 8.5-percent increase from last year.
Room rates saw an 11.5-percent increase since last summer.
August saw the biggest profits, a total of $339 million per room revenue. For five consecutive years, the August numbers broke the previous year’s record.
The summers total room revenue was 4965 million, and last year the numbers reached $889 million
